Pod 11 · Galatians 4
HFSS
Heir · Fullness · Son not Slave · Spirit Cries
From slave to son. The fullness of times, the Spirit's cry of "Abba, Father," and the casting out of bondage.
Heir Under Guardian
As long as the heir is a child, he is no different than a slave. The heir is under guardian (the Law) until the time appointed by the Father.
Fullness of Times
When the fullness of time had come, God sent His Son to redeem me from the Law.
Son, Not Slave
I am no longer a slave (spiritual child), but a son (spiritual adult), and an heir with Christ.
Spirit Cries Out
The Spirit in me cries out "Abba, Father."
Beggarly ElementsSpecial
Now that I belong to God, why would I turn again to those beggarly elements — the keeping of the Law for the gaining of righteousness?
Enemy BecauseSpecial
Have I become your enemy because I tell you the truth?
Zealous for ThemSpecial
The legalists zealously court you that you may be zealous for them — those who depend on law-keeping for righteousness.
Labor in ChildbirthSpecial
I (Paul, inspired by the Spirit) labor in childbirth until Christ is formed in you (soul salvation).
Two CovenantsSpecial
Hagar (a type of the Old Covenant) bore Ishmael (a type of the flesh); she corresponds with Mount Sinai (the Law) and bondage. Sarah (the New Covenant) bore Isaac (the Spirit and promise); she corresponds with Mount Zion (grace and the Church) and liberty.
Barren WomanSpecial
Rejoice, O barren woman — the desolate (Old Covenant, flesh) has many more children than she (New Covenant) who has a husband (Christ to whom the believer is betrothed).
Currently the SameSpecial
Even as he who was of the flesh (Ishmael) persecuted him who was born according to the Holy Spirit (Isaac), so it is currently — that which is of the flesh/Law persecutes that which is of the Spirit/promise.
Cast OutSpecial
Cast out the bondwoman (Old Covenant law-keeping) and her son (flesh), for such shall not be an heir with the son (promise/grace) of the freewoman (New Covenant).
